Oh yah! Just buying points in CO this year. Too much at risk to go fight over the one buck that's left. I hunt right around Delta and I know they have been hit really hard.
Ya the whole western part of the state got hit really hard this year but i've been seeing alot of elk and a few deer. I think the elk definetly did better than the deer. But the elk are way low they're pretty much in town this year.
I'm really scrambling to figure out what to do. Plan A was an archery deer hunt in Unit 76 and plan B was an archery elk hunt in 66. I guess I'll wait until mid-march and hope for a miracle warm-up.
What do you guys think about the effects on those units?
I think that 66 and 76 area is going to have quite a considerable amount of winter kill. That area of Colorado has absoulutely gotten pounded with white stuff.
I don't think the winter loses are going to be any higher than normal. They have moved out of 76-----most are down to the San Jaun River & probably into NM. I'm seeing more deer on the southside of the hills. They seem to be in OK shape to me. IMO the elk are OK.
The weather has let-up some. Into the 40's in the afternoons---things are starting to melt down. Hope it holds for a couple more weeks. CB
