timemachine

Hi -
I very seldom post a topic on this forum. I read it quite often - mostly in the fall and winter when time allows. I can't ever remember my old name and passwords so I'm loggd on again new. I live in Gunnison,Ut area. Grew up hunting - love to hunt - love the outdoors, only wish I could go out and do more of this kind of stuff than I do! If you are interested I picked "timemachine " as a handle because if I had one -I'd fire it up ever 3rd Saturday in Oct. and go back to the 60's With rifle, tag and bullets in tow. I can only fantasize of the bucks I'd kill with my stw........
I know, dream on......
-Here's my subject: I don't understand and I can't fathom the reasoning -why would the DWR allow a late doe hunt on the south eastern going on right now? They are pounding the 12 Mile herd right around Mayfield for those of you familiar. And IF you are familiar you have got to know that this herd has suffered and is JUSY BARELY coming back a LITTLE bit.
I am resisting with all I got to not get mean. I'm willing to try and have an open mind. DWR or ?? lets see some reasoning - other than you did it once in the past and so now it's just stuck in the reg's? If you say depredation I'll call B>S> on you - Those landowners won't give permisson to hunt their property. They then should not have the option to complain. Another thing, HMM..they own property in the winter range. What do they expect? (I've been outfoxed by some pretty crafty old mulies, but I've yet to see one that can read) One more: crops are harvested, ground is frozen or soon will be, they run cattle all over their own ground, the weight of a deer/elk can't possibly be a concern. Last -i.m.o. -They say they want to pasture it off and the deer are eating it all first? Fair trade for the summer range they got off the public land.
Truth is there isn't enough deer out there to do enough damage to warrant a late doe hunt- you know it - change it.
