DOES SIZE MATTER

Yes, it's perfect. Lots of elk are killed with 160 grain bullets out of a 7mm Rem Mag-----factory & hand loads.

I killed an elk with a 30-06 Acceleratir, just to prove I could. I also shot a big cow with a 416 Ruger, and lost her. Placement is key!!!

+1 blank. Placement is the key regardless of broadhead or grain of bullet from whichever caliber. But to the OP yes that is sufficient if the shot is good

I have shot 5 elk (2 bulls and 3 cows) with my .270 with 150 grain bullets. As stated from others, its all about the shot placement. The only thing that a lower caliber lacks (like a .270) is knockdown power at long distance (obviously). I shot my last bull at 480 yards and he just stood there when I put 3 shots behind the shoulder. He didn't even move, but fell over dead within 30 seconds or so after the shots.
