On the third day of my hunt in SE Arizona, a decent buck was hot on a doe but held up at about 40 yards with two oak trees not providing a shooting alley. They both went out for about ten minutes and then the doe came right at my ground blind with the buck in the sneak and sniff mode. At about 35 yards I went to full draw and buck continued in hot pursuit. At 22 yards with the buck trotting broadside I released the Easton Axis with G5 Striker and thought I made a good pass through shot. The buck change directions and I could see good blood from the exit side.
About thirty minutes later we started tracking and the buck ended up running up hill over 300 yards with a perfect double lung shot before crashing.
He is my first Coues, a 3x3 with a partial broken mainbeam and first buck with a bow.
