Thanks all and thanks Larry for posting the picture and helping me and the family on finding some of these bucks we have been hunting
Well all it has started off good (other then the fact that my wife says she has shot a bigger Wyoming deer then me) but that will change this Nov LOL
I would like to say this is one of the bucks we pre scouted this fall but it is not.. as are number one pick may have been shot during the archery hunt with a rifle but that is a long story!!! And are number 2 buck was shot 10 min after sun up opening day by another lucky hunter, We did see a lot of bucks on the first day but could never put it together,,, After the opening day we only seen does fawns and small spikes 2 points and one or two 3 points
We had drawn a walk in management area in are hunt unit but it did not open for us tell Oct 5th so me and the wife headed out Thursday morning, The area is very open and is a great place to use the optics we could not find any deer not even a antelope the first hour of daylight we did find one fox that I gave a little education too a little high and a touch to the right I think,,,
After a hour of looking I found what looked to be a doe and 2 fawns about 3/4 of a mile away I didnt think twice about them and kept looking after a few min I looked back at the deer and thought I had better get the big glass out and take a closer look when I did that I seen that all 3 deer where bucks one 3 point a 4 point and this buck so after Amy seen them all hell broke loose around as we tryed to get ready to go after them you all have heard about the monkey and the football that is what I must have looked like trying to get everything into my backpack... After a short stalk we got to the ridge across from the deer and I pulled out the rangefinder it read 376 yards I told my wife and all she said was he is dead I told her lets try and get closer so we toped over the ridge and the deer caught are movment so I re-ranged them at 350 yards I set up my bogan tripod for her to shoot from and got my video camera out to film (if that is what you could call it after I got done with it ) anyway with me wispering to her what to do she told me to get ready and at the shot the buck bolted down under the cliffs it looked like a clean miss but as my wife loaded another round the buck faltered and fell down into a little wash after some congrads to the wife we hiked over to where the buck lay and that is when I relized that the buck was a little better then I thought he was and I also noticed a 3" cheeter I was Happy for my wife the bullet hit perfact hitting the top of the heart and taking out the liver..
I will say this was a hunt that proves that you will never kill a Big one if you shoot the small ones as we seen plenty of bucks but non that caught my wifes eye after opening day, and I thought for shure she would end up wanting to shoot a dink deer but she never gave up and infact told me she would rather eat the tag than another small deer
Now I just hope that with only 2 days left for this hunt that my daugter can find a nice buck as she also passed up on a smaller 4 point buck tonight (Thank GOD as it started to rain Cats and Dogs just after we got back to the jeep)
Thanks all for letting me share this hunt with you
Once again I would like to thank Larry Mowers for all the help on this unit as he knows it like the back of his hand and has eyes that can spot any deer in the area I swear that after Larry looks into a area with those 15x56s he has found every deer that is there THANKS A TON LARRY WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!!
