Just got back from helping a buddy in 54 3rd. A medium buck would have been easy, but a big one was tough to find. I did not see a really good one on public land or in the back of a truck or in a camp until the one he went after the last evening. Hunted all all week, he found a shooter the last hour of the last day before dark, same time I found one for him. His stalk did not work out, by the time he got to me, it was so late he had to hurry. He was within 75 yards as it got dark on closing day. 10 minutes more light and it was a done deal, but oh well. It was not 9 points with the lack of snow this year. I actually heard of two guys who paid $7500 to the landowner plus another $300 to the state for those tags! Not sure what they got, but that makes burning the points seem much easier. I got a 5x5 bull elk, but the elk hunting was tough too.
