If you find what you would consider a big buck, always plan on about a 25% ground shrinkage. That seems to be the average for me. If I see a buck that looks 28" wide, by the time I get to him on the ground he will shrink to about 21". It happens every time. I've even had well known Muley experts show me what they consider a good buck, only to have it shrink smaller and smaller the closer I get to it. Maybe that's the problem, I'm getting too close. Maybe I should just leave them 28"ers out there for someone else to find. HA, HA, HA.
