Montana Goat Tag

Just drew unit 313 for goat. Would appreciate any discussion as to the country, goat populations and weather considerations. I will go guided as I will be short of time due to other tags drawn. Any help in recommending a quality guide service is appreciated.

If that is South Absaroka, I hunted it in 2007 and a friend hunted it a few years before that.

I had a guide from Big Timber drop me in there and hunted it solo. It's big nasty country. Get in shape!!

I hunted the end of September and the weather where I was never got above 40 degrees. It snowed 6 inches my first night in camp.

313 is the Crazy Mountain goat tag. Cottonwood creek on the west side is a good place to start. Good Luck with your hunt.

Here's a billy taken in that unit last year. Be careful if you get any snow. My hunting partner took a pretty good ride down the mountain before he put the final shot on his goat. He stopped about 20 from the edge of the cliffs...
