I shot this buck on the second to last day of the hunt. I had a chance at a really tall and heavy 4 point, but the firing pin wouldn't hit the primer hard enough! I tried 5 different times to shoot him.... as i watched him push does and chase off other bucks. Damn the luck. I was happy to get this buck even though he wasn't exactly what i was hoping for. My grandpa made the trip out to hunt with my dad and i for the day and was right by my side when i shot him. He was happy to see me kill a deer and i was happy both him and my dad were there. I passed a few deer during the hunt that would be more of the average type, but i think this one breaks the mold a bit.
His front knee was the size of a baseball and wouldn't bend at all. I'm guessing it was broken quite some time ago and may explain for the funky rack. By the looks of his teeth he seemed to be pretty old.
This is his hoof with a 30-06 shell.
Also i am having this rack mounted with his cape.
