I just got back from Montana and had a great time. I hunted a friends ranch and there were deer all over. We got there last tuesday and it was cold with snow on the ground. I set out to hunt Mule deer but my friend said he was having a lot of trouble trying to keep the Whitetail deer off the hay stacks and they were costing him a lot of money.
Ever though we were seeing 10-15 muley bucks a day I decided to try and help him out and take a Whitetail buck that was hitting the hay stacks every night. Plus I have never shot a whitetail before so I thought it would be fun.
One night we watched were the deer were coming from on their way to the hay and in the morning we were ready to get them on their way back to the bedding area. It worked pretty good and I got my first Whitetail buck. Maybe if I draw tags next year I will go for those muleys.
