Need someone that knows how to take pics off if my Droid to put up on here please.
My 13 year old son and I hunted hard here in NE Oregon for his first buck. We endured 85-90 degree days....50mph winds.....rain/snow.....he would not go home with anything less than a 4x4 lol. Sooooo had my work cut out for me! We rode horses n mules 85-90 miles during the hunt. We hiked many miles and glassed for hours!!!
He did awesome! Never complained once! Finally on day 10 of the hunt, we glassed a basin we been seeing bucks in as we rode it. We were glassing for 2 miles away first 10 min of daylight when I spotted a group of 6 bucks....with two shooters. It started pouring and I asked what he wanted to do, go directly at them on foot or go get horses....he said "let's get going on foot".
Eventually we got to within 130 yards from them bedded down, saw an old 3x3 that was NICE! so I knew they were all there, so we waited. We were SOAKED! I asked him twice if he be happy with that big 3 pt cause he was early stage hyperthermic.....and add a big 4x4 to that......well you know what I was thinking lol. He said...."dad I want a 4x4, and I know they are there.....so I rather go big or go home empty"
Wow maybe he just might make a hunter! Finally 2 hours of laying in pouring rain.....NOTHING on either of us was dry, the big buck steps out......he drops him with one shot! What an amazing feeling when your son faced every obstacle and was determined to shoot a big buck!!!
