Looking through some of the pics I took this summer and guess I have a fondness for old structures and this one seems to be one of my favorites for the year even though not totally in focus. Let see some of your favorite old structures that you captured on film (or SD)

You just know there is some great history associated with all of these buildings! I really like the first "sway back building " picture of yours High Country. Too bad they had to go and put up the snow drift barriers in the area or that pics would be awesome!

Bowman, is your building a reconstruction or a real life historical building? Appears to me to be a reconstruction but I could be wrong?

BB

It is a real life historical building not a reconstruction. Here is a statement from the Humbolt-Toiyabe Admin Site.

Building Name No. Const. Date Eligibility
Blackburn Ranger Station n/a c.1908 Eligible

Statement of Significance

It is recommended that the log cabin on Site TY-5016 is eligible to the National Register under Criterion
A with a period of significance of c.1908. It is the earliest remaining building associated with Forest
Service management of the public domain in Nevada. It pre-dates Forest Service directives on
developing administrative sites and buildings, representing a truly vernacular resource of the Agency?s
early years.

That one is down in the big bull district in new mexico.

I noticed this old log home on Garland Prairie west of Flagstaff this past summer and thought it would be nice to shoot after a snow at sunset. I went there tonight. As dusk progressed, the sky turned peach before the blue of the earth shadow appeared.

Here's another Utah cabin, but it is less likely most people will know this one.

Here is a photo of an old barn out of Ten Sleep, WY. I have photgraphed it every year for the past 7-8 years and it finally crumpled this past winter...

here are a few from a series I am putting together as a gift for my wifes uncle. The bottom 3 are from old mine claims that are found on and around his property.

I'm always intrigued by these abandoned structures and how they came to contribute to the taming and development of the area.
They are a remaining symbol of a people on the move for a better future.

This car must be a popular attraction. I saw it in a magazine, then stumbled on it while taking a drive while working out of Whitehall back in July.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-21-11 AT 11:39AM (MST)[p]Here is one taken not far from where we camp. The old cabin and milk barn are about 20 miles or so from town. Nice little chunk of history. About where I am standing is the site where I got to show my kid evidence of a fresh wolf kill on a cow elk. That meadow in front of the cabin has a small seasonal creek in front of it.

And about 1 mile south is this cabin.

Compromise, hell! ... If freedom is right and tyranny is wrong, why should those who believe in freedom treat it as if it were a roll of bologna to be bartered a slice at a time?
