Scouting trip in the gila

Well I showed up pretty excited expecting so see lots of green grass and the tanks holding water but in my particular unit it wasn't the case. Pretty dry and some of my go to tanks didn't have a drop of water in them. But it did rain both days I was there. Saw tons of elk and from the looks of it it's going to be a good year. Saw a bachelor group with a couple bulls that are no doubt shooters. Got a couple pictures and video of a descent bull that hung around out in the rain. Makes me ready for September!

That is a really nice bull.

I'm finding the same thing--seems to be getting some good rains but the tanks are still dry. Still seeing some good bulls concentrated around the limited water.

Lake Roberts just got 1 1/2" in a half an hour, that's what I read.

There's a lot of big bone out there this year that's for sure. Should be a record breaking year I wish I could spend a couple more weekends up there before the hunt. Or get to stay a week before the hunt starts like 2012. But I'll let my old man shoot this one and I'll just have to settle for something a little bigger

Oh I forgot to throw in there we also saw some texans cow calling and bugling from the roads trying to see where the elk are...... Some people now days I swear
