Here are some pics to keep up the excitement level during the off-season.
A while back I posted some pics of what I think is the perfect antler. This time, here is a buck that is very imperfect.
My father killed this buck back in the 1960s or 70s near Toston, Montana. He shot it at 400+ yards, and new something was wrong with it, but didn't know how messed up it was until after he walked up to it. When he was driving out of the area with the buck in his truck, he stopped and talked to someone coming the other direction. When my dad told him he got a buck, the guy was bugged that he had shot this one because he had been hunting it unsuccessfully for the past 2-3 years. It is kind of cool to look at, and I haven't ever seen another one like it, so I thought I'd share.
When I was a young kid, I remember thinking that it must score really well as a non-typical so I tried to score it. I couldn't ever figure out how to back then. Now, I obviously know that since there really isn't a typical frame on the one side, it doesn't hardly score anything at all.
I hope someday I can get it mounted for my father.
Enjoy and post some other imperfect antlers if you've got 'em,
