My dad and 2 of his freinds got lucky and drew tags this year. Wondering if any one on here has been on this hunt. Any addvice or tips would be greatly appreciated. My dad has hunted colorado for 20 years now, so he is not new to elk hunting, just has never hunted arizona.

Im just trying to help him out with his hunt because he doesnt no how to use computers really, and he has helped me in all the hunting that I have ever done.

You can try asking Don Martin on here. I believe that's his unit he guides in. From what I've been told look around Cataract canyon.

Adam:

I'm gonna assume they have late, general tags. If so that is not an easy hunt, and sure as heck isn't designed to be a "Trophy" hunt.

The rut will be over, and the big boys will move to the most isolated places in the unit.

The raghorns will still be around with each other or with the cows. Got to do tons of glassing on this hunt. Find a high spot and glass, glass and glass some more.

Got an early rifle hunter in there, that is a fun hunt. Bulls will hopefully be screaming and a chance at a "TOAD" is what you're there for.

I hunt all over the unit, from the pines to the flats, and in places where hunters probably don't believe there are elk at. They are there! Out in the antelope flats, but you got to know where to look. You can easily hike 10 miles a day out there.

Last year had a couple of NR late Unit 10 hunters. Got a nice 6 X 6 and a 6 X 5 I think. Personally, I would tell your dad and friends that on this hunt, don't be passing on any branch antlered bulls they might see! Especially if they haven't hunted there before at that time of the year!

Good luck and good hunting!
