unit 16 jan 1-15

myself and a freind have drawn a deer tag for anywhere in unit16 for jan 1-15. Anyone that hunted any of 16 a-e units this fall that any good info for me would be great. We for now are planning on backpacking deep into the wilderness, but any info would help.

i would concentrate on the lower elevations, pinon's and junipers... find doe groups and check for shooter bucks. i would glass as much as possible to save you alot of foot work. i personally would avoid the wilderness on this hunt...

I've seen a lot of deer on the eastern side of the unit coming down 52 by the VLA. The area is lower and should be good for the winter months.

I just got back from an elk hunt in 16A. In the lower elevations of that unit we saw a group of 3 nice bucks. Another set of doe's with a really nice buck were just off the road laying down in an old corral
