I had been watching this buck for almost 2 months, I was out there almost every morning and evening. The evening of the opener I split off from my cousin he went west and i went southeast, I found a small elk horn so I was feeling lucky. Other people were drivin around on a fourwheeler yelling and shooting at a small 2 point. I was just about to pack up and leave when I looked way to the south and there was the group of bucks which had 4 shooters in it! It was getting dark and I had a lot of ground to cover so I bee lined it over there, I was 200 yards away for 25 minutes deciding how I could get a shot. They were in a small clearing by a pond, They slowly fed over behind the pond dam to get water. I snuck across a sage flat and got to the pond dam. My cousin forgot his phone so I had no Idea he had shot at a nice buck that he thought was the big 3 we named forks I was after. The buck ducked the string and he hit a 3 point behind him in the spine! Back to my story, I slowly peaked over the pond dam and saw the cactus buck 74 yards away, but I didnt see the other bucks. So I dropped down and around to the west and peaked over again, there they all were feeding on some willows! Forks had moved to the northwest closer to me, I quickly ranged him, 40 yards quartering to me, I drew back, settled my pin and let it fly! I watched it disappear behind his shoulder, he jumped and took off. I watched as all the bucks came out of the brush except him. Found my arrow covered in blood, So i went back down to my two friends hunting to the south of me, we went and got my truck and my cousin and took care of his buck, by this time it was almost 10:00, finally we and went and tracked mine. He went maybe 200 yards and died! Didnt get home till midnight! 23" wide, 21 1/2" tall, 152 1/2" as a 3 point! It was a fun hunt! Thanks to my dad and my friends and my cousin! Note, in the pics it looked like a bad shot, thats the exit wound, because of the quartering shot it came out far back.
