So my first animal in Africa was the Warthog. Interesting animal for sure.
I was told up front that an Warthog was an animal of opportunity. Thick cover and not an over abundance of them so if we got one great if not there was not really a way to specifically go and hunt them.
Needless to say I was lucky.
The area I was hunting is not known for large hogs and Barry (PH) told me that it would be very unusual to get one without one side being worn down quite a bit as they always favor one side over the other when rooting around.
I was lucky and got one with some length and both tusks look great.
Here is the problem. My gun and duffel bag did not arrive until Day 6 and 8 respectively. So for the first few days I was hunting in Dr. Marten's, Levi's and an Eddie Bauer shirt. I had to borrow a rifle and ammo from the owner. The lost luggage thing did not slow us down though. Barry went here there and everywhere and it worked okay in the end.
