I mainly hunt the Units adjoining Swakane, but I venture into Swakane every now and then. Swakane Canyon Road heads northwesterly off the Hwy between Wenatchee and Entiat right at the Rocky Reach Dam. This area is very dependent on the weather. If it snows, you will see a lot of deer because they migrate down through the Chiwawa unit and some end up in the Swakane Valley. One tip that I got from a guy that hunts that unit during the early bow season, was that if you can find a pile of rocks away from the road you will find a nice buck. Whether that is true, I don't know for sure. Most times during early November and through the winter, you will see a lot of deer if you get at least one ridge away from the Road. Last November we saw a lot of deer down in those lower areas in the late evening just before dark. So make sure you hunt the early morning and through the late evening. Good luck.
