So there is a ton of talk on here about needing longer seasons, protecting our year to year hunting rights etc. etc.
Why doesn't the state look at doing an either/or tag. What I mean by this is a tag where you can shoot either a buck deer or a bull elk. I don't think they could do it statewide, or with enough permits that everyone could participate in that hunt, but I think it would be a viable option to try.
Thinking about it this way. If the season were made say 3 - 4 weeks long and you had the choice of a buck or an elk you would likely try to get a trophy sized animimal of either species.
Make the permit fee $70.00 for example, which is lower then the current bucks and bulls tag of $80.00 but is still higher then the buck tag on its own and the bull tag on its own. The extra money is for the oportunity to be in the field longer.
