Big bulls hit the water in the middle of the day on a full moon. You are better off to relax at the water hole or wallow than to sit at camp in the middle of the day. I have seen 11:00 am on towards evening. They will even get up and leave their cows, water and come back.

That moon can be frustrating.

don't know if moon is the reason - butgotta agree with bulls visiting wallows and water during the middle of the day - he knows his cows are gonna stay put. so he takes a break hissself.
gotta smell good for the ladies!

I like to stay out an hour or two after dark just listening. Its a good way to locate for the morning hunt.

I am not all that experienced but we had two bulls come into water in the afternoon on Saturday (almost full moon) and my son let the air out of the biggest one! We were determined to stay at water the whole day and it paid off!

I've killed many a bull going to or coming off a wallow in the middle of the day.

HorseCreek is right too. I love to sit out after dark and listen for elk. I have even been known to roll out under a pine tree and camp right on them. They don't go far in the dark. Rutting bulls are still rutting bulls. Just like us guys, if we are going to "get a little" it doesn't matter what time of day it is, who's watching, or how light out it is.:)

It's always an adventure!!!
