So i just got back to New York from my first Elk hunt in the manti. Hunted hard for 4 days with no luck. Heading back this weekend to finish out the last week. There was a ton of people in the area camping and doing other activities for labor day. Thinking that and the heat kept the bulls in hiding. Has anyone had any luck or can give me advice? I may try to hire a guide for the second part of my hunt can someone also point me in that direction? Thank you for the help I would have been completely lost this first trip without advice from this forum.

Hunt skyline drive, south end, plenty of canyons with screaming bulls. Also around electric lake is a good bet. If i wasn't heading south for the last week i would help you out. Get on google earth and look up nukwoodard, just above clearcreek, there is usually a few bulls in there right now. Good thing about the manti there is a bunch of elk. Also to the west out of clearcreek, There is a dirt road that runs north and south, My family calls it the drill rig. cant tell ya how many elk we have seen off that road. If you take it as far south as you can, glass of the east there is a few good wallows. If ya find yourself close to schofield town, there is a cabin on the east side of the road, Jensen's stop in there, ask for Jordan, he is the gentle giant of our family. if he is at the cabin for the weekend he will help. A plus is he is real good at packing elk out.. Good luck.

Thank you! I did hike candland mountain trail on the first day. Living at sea lvl then going right into 10,000ft and trying to get any meaningful hunting in wasn't smart. But I will definitely check those places out!
