    Colorado Unit 55

I had a 2nd season deer tag in 55 last year. I backpacked in and had a great hunt. There were deer lower, but most of the bucks, and the one I killed were at about 11,000 ft. Just a little snow on my hunt though, so if you get much snow, I'm not sure if they'd still be up that high. But if I...

My 2014 Season Pics / Video "I Live For This"

I am just now getting around to posting how my 2014 hunts went. I first off want to say thank you to the guys that gave me advice on this forum regarding my Wyoming elk hunt, and my Colorado deer hunt. I know sometimes we ask for advice or tips for a unit and then we forget to post how the hunt...

    Superformance

This will be my first year hunting with Hornady Superformace SST 130gr out of my 270. So far they shoot great out of my gun, great velocity, but I'm yet to see how they perform on an animal. I Live For This

    colorado unit 55 mule deer

I have your same tag, and it will be my first year hunting the unit as well. I haven't received any tips or info. I just have found a few areas on google earth that look good, so I plan on backpacking in a few days before the opener and staying the entire week. Best of luck to you! I Live For This

    G5 T3's for elk

I shot the T3's for the first time last year. I was able to take a mature bull in early December. 64 yard broadside shot and the arrow was sticking out the other side of him.. He only made it 40 yards or so before expiring. If you have any doubts about them, then stick with a fixed blade. You...

Colorado Unit 55 3rd Season Mule deer

I am a non-resident as well. I drew unit 55 2nd season. This is my first year hunting that unit so I am not much help. But after my hunt in October I could give you any info/tips on what I learned! I Live For This

    Book Cliffs archery deer

That's awesome man! I had an archery tag there last year. I went on two scouting trips before hand and found an area that I loved. Through scouting I decided I would only put the sneak on bucks 160+. I hunted hard and ended up taking a 165 inch buck on the 4th day. It was about my 10th stalk of...

Shoes instead of boots for hunting?

Check out Salomon Speedcross 3 CS. I've only had them for a year, but I have zero complaints about them thus far. Very comfortable, light, and somewhat waterproof. I'll definitely be wearing them this fall. The treads on them give you insane grip just about anywhere. I Live For This

    Fixed blade VS EXP/Mech blade

+1 The more KE and Momentum you can get the better. There is no such thing as too much:) And I agree, with as fast as you're shooting you would benefit more by adding a little weight to your arrow. But with your current set up at 82# KE that is plenty to get the job done regardless of your .5...
