    Colorado Unit 81

Gary, pretty much the entire Conejos canyon along FR250 is under camping restrictions. Platoro Res has a few camping sites that sit beside the road, but there isn't a whole lot places to camp along the road itself. Conejos campground was shut down 2-3 yrs. As it was explained to me that...

OTC archery elk in 81 or 78?

If you know a little about the area in Trujillo meadows and Spruce hole, I would stick to that area rather than hit the la jara resevoir. The la jara resevoir is usually jam-packed with hunters every season. Plus there are numerous roads that the road hunters use. More so than up around...

    Elk 2nd rifle units 80 & 81

sage, what would you like to know? Pressure, Usually there are quite alot of people. However this year I was impressed at the lack of hunters I saw during 2nd season. The elk are there, you just have to find them. If you are looking for trophy 350+ bulls, 80/81 is not your hunting area...

    80/81

Even without alot of snow; terrace resevoir, cat creek and La Jara creek hold some very respectable bucks this time of year. Good luck.

    Worth a shot

If you have hunted 51 and 52 at least once, GMU 81 in colorado is very similar. And it is just over the border from 52. Plenty of area, lots of hunters. Elk are there you just gotta find em. Good luck.

    muzz elk 81?

I dont think unit 81 is worth 8 points. As far as quality bulls go, I dont think I have seen any that push 300" in a while. That goes for unit 80 as well. I live here/hunt both units every year for 24+ yrs and am possibly looking at hunting elsewhere this year. I know the area very well, just...

    PackOut Outfitter in 81?

Contact Ronnie Landers or his dad Harry Landers of Wildhorse Outfitters. Or Sam Smith of Winding stair outfitters. Both of these outfits are on the Web. I have ridden with Ronnie he would be my first choice.

    unit 81 outfitters

There are a couple of them. I know the owners of wildhorse outfitters personally, and they run a great operation. They all operate on public land. Meaning everybody has access to it. I have never used any of them, but I haven't heard any negativity about them either. Hope this helps good...

    a quality drop camp

Check into Wildhorse outfitters. They are licensed/bonded and guide in unit 81. Ronnie landers and his dad have a couple of camps they run. They are fixing to start the fishing season and I know they scout alot during that time as well. I know they always run into elk. They do both archery...

Asking for help in Unit 81

RE: Asking for help in Unit 81 Beautiful country, you have rugged hard to hunt, the easy open flats for easy walking, wilderness, riverbottom etc. I grew up/my home is there. I know the area very well. I always see elk, but I work for it. Let me know what you are looking for.

    Unit 80

Are you hunting deer or elk? Cat creek, might be a good place to start. Kind of low in elevation lots of open areas, Plenty of room for everybody. I prefer to hunt up higher, if I was going to hunt 80 I would try up stunner pass up to summitville and surrounding areas. But that is me. Are...

    Help with Lodging options

I am not sure about the area as I dont live in utah, but I believe there is a website called vacation rentals by owner( www.vbro.com). I used them when I went to yellowstone and had an awesome cabin with full amenities for less than I would have paid for a hotel. Might be something to look...
