    Colorado State Wide Deer Tag

Man, I hope it works out for him, but the guy lives in the heart of mule deer mecca, and he let it slip away. Granted the weather wasn't the best, but I'd be pulling the trigger on a sweet massed out 190! Unless he has multiple on the wall, which in that case, let's see them! I just can't...

Has Colorado Peaked? All down hill?

Yes, two years in a row now they've raised buck tag allocations for NW Colorado during substantial winter kill years for the mature age class of bucks. The rest of the state is doing much better, as the winters have been average. Most of the trophies coming out of the state this year are from...

    Garmin gps 64st

I have the Montana, and while it's the best for finding spots from the truck with a great big screen, I really wish I had the Rhino for the field. The two way radio is super strong, and eliminates the need for both devices in the field. You can ping each other as well to know where your...

    200" realistically??

LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-17 AT 11:13AM (MST)[p]Chance is less than 1% on a 200" gross typical. A 180's main frame with a bunch of extras is much more likely, say 2-3%. That's on public ground. Private is a whole other deal. Pay to play, and your odds increase depending on ground. Still no slam...

    Best guess?

LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-17 AT 10:37AM (MST)[p]If it wasn't for the dink mains, I'd of said 180's, but you're probably looking at 174 gross. Mains are key, but still a sweet buck. Score means squat!

    Here's my worthless opinion

Your opinion is completely valid on the insanity that is shed hunting now. However, it's not this site that is ruining it. It's social media like Instagram and the prices alone that are driving this train. I met some dumbass on the mountain this year from Wyoming that said he lost his job and...

Advice for my daughter and wife?

I like how he phrased this is for his daughter and wife, but pretty sure you'll be getting a tag too buddy! Was a good sales pitch, but yeah, tired of these posts asking for units and specifics. Glad the majority of you are finally coming around to the realization that giving advice like that...

    Desert Mule Deer hunting tactics

Just be like every AZ Strip and old Mexico guide. Ambush them from their only water source after putting up countless f'ing trail cams to establish your hit list. Because that's "hunting." LOL.

    Gov deer tags.

Seems like the new trend is to take the deer during archery, since you can't hunt December anymore. Also, it's easier to pattern them.
  18. D

    Proposed license reissue changes

Seems good. Also, if a R turned the tag in, should go back to a R, and vice versa. I thought it was unfair for the tags to immediately hit the leftover list when people have been waiting years to draw them.

    195" 4x4

A 190"+ typical is less than 1% of deer on most of the continent. I don't count the AZ Strip or some of these premium ranches, because they just don't count in my book. They might as well be high fence deer. Sorry if that hurt some feelings, but that's how I see it. It's not challenging when...

    Perspective

Pretty sweet Larry. You had me fooled as well. Both those bodies look super mature, so thought they'd be about the same. Not!
  22. D

    Age

I shot what I thought was a 190+" beast this year. I get up to him and it's a 4.5 year old genetic specimen that would have been a 200+? typical in a couple years if he survived. The body was small, but we couldn't tell that a first light at 250 yards with no other bucks around to compare too...

    Possey Hunting

Don't give one shitz how personable or nice an outfitter is. They shouldn't be guiding on public land for profit. Countless problems solved!!!
  24. D

    Possey Hunting

Outfitters should be limited to Private Land Only. Would solve almost all the problem, among others, and I don't think our public lands should help line their pockets. Period. Every hunt I've ever been on with the presence of an outfitter in the area has sucked for numerous reasons.

    Possey Hunting

LAST EDITED ON Nov-02-16 AT 12:19PM (MST)[p]Personally I don't care if it's the next world record. If I didn't play a major part in finding and carrying out my own animal, than what's the point, but to each his/her own. Like you said, keep em in the trophy units, and let the rest of us do our...

    Re-issued tags

The new process is not great for re-issued tags, but I can't think of a better process that doesn't create more work. I liked when the tags were not issued at all if turned back in. Simple, and consistent.

I like to take a bunch of different shots to see what gets the most likes and comments on Insta, which is my sole goal in hunting. Setting it straight- Why I'm under attack?

Some pretty simple takeaways from this. 1)Don't share a honey hole with someone you don't want hunting it. 2)Don't be a D bag and hunt someone's honey hole just because they shared it with you. 3)If others are hunting your public land spot, get over it. It's not only yours! 4)Get along...

He's about 27 wide inside, guesses?

Can't judge from that view. But I'd definitely wait till he turned!!!
  39. D

    Scouting pics

He's a shooter. Not the best genetics, but a stunning deer nonetheless. 180's because of the weak back forks and short mains. Wide frame but the inside spread is not that wide, which is where it counts. Those back forks would need to fork a lot sooner to be 190's.

    What's this Books Buck Score..??

Wow, can't believe I agree with most of the posts here. Last go around everyone was saying 210" on a 180's". This buck does not make it out of the 160's at most, maybe only high 150's.
