Hunted coyotes in unit 62 last year during the fire and took these pictures. I think there will be plenty of elk in the burn areas but there will also be more cows. One of the ranchers we visit told us he was running 1400 cows on that side last year and if they had a good winter (lots of snow)...

Most of them. May sound sick or morbid but I get much more thrill of the kill if the animal has no clue I'm there and the closer the better.

Because they use a percentage of population figure. 100.000 people, 50.000 hunters is 50% of population. 500.000 people, 100.000 hunters is 20% of population. Number of hunters doubled but the percentage went down, hence less hunters. I know it's deceptive, but that's how politics works...

Generally I only rattle or use a grunt call once or twice in a 3 or 4 hour sit. That's when I haven't seen any deer for a few hours. If I can see a buck I'll only call if I don't think he'll come past me and give me a shot. The problem with calling is that deer comes in looking for another deer...

Yes a lot of bucks in the 120 to 140 range. Most survive the seasons but don't seem to get any bigger. I'm beginning to think 120 to 140 is what most bucks will ever have.
