    Archery elk pass thru 2022

This still gets my blood pumping. Helps me get thru the winter. Middle of september AM hunt. Spot and stalk with sun directly behind me. I ranged 65 yards then I let out a cow call that got him to stand in junipers. Shot entered forward low gut and exited far shoulder. Whole body quivered...

Enter to WIN Sweet Knife Sharpening Kit

I want a vipersharp! It would help me put an even edge on all my knifes. They would stay sharp longer because the edge would be perfect! Not the wavy sharp edge that I get with my hand held sharpener.

    West Yellowstone either sex buffalo

It didn't feel like they were hindering, but they were there every morning. They would smile and wave after I did the same, but I'm sure they were writing my car down every time they saw me. They would disappear every day around noon. When I got my buff they were long gone. They were like...

    West Yellowstone either sex buffalo

This was a hard hunt! Hardly any snow and the buffs would migrate in and out sporadically. One herd was on private land almost every time I went out. After about 12 trips to the unit they finally moved off private in Jan long enough for me and my youngest to walk across the frozen lake to seal...

    my boys moose

My little guy drew an Idaho moose tag this year. We hunted for two weeks before and after school. The school secretary got used to me picking him up a little early every day. He even missed a couple football games. I missed the idaho general mule deer hunt. Glad it panned out. He is pretty...

    West Yellowstone either sex buffalo

Just got a packet saying I drew! Hunt goes till feb 15. I know this hunt has very low success. I live close so I can put in tons of time. I'm just excited to have a chance at a big guy. This is one winter I will pray for snow!

    Mechanical vs Fixed Blade

Muzzy 125 fixed. Fly straight, pretty cheap and penetrate well. Six point last year was quartering to me at 50 yards. Shot sliced rib cut lung liver gut and exited far hip. Elk layed down and expired in sight. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure mechanical would have deflected resulting in no...

    Unit 74 above timberline

Make sure you have a freezer big enough for the horns. I put mine in the freezer for a year and the velvet got freeze dried and looks as fresh as ever. I wrapped the scull so it didn't freeze dry. After a year I unwrapped the skull and boiled and h2o2ed the skull and its a cool uro!

    Unit 74 above timberline

Fun 2014 hunt, scouted for three days biggest guy I could find. As you can see, STEEP! rocks were tough on the velvet. He rolled about 100 yards. Try to shoot yours when it is in some brush and pray he doesn't roll.

Son stuck with it for multiple hikes across many many miles..... Plenty of bucks gave him the slip but this one made a mistake by sneaking through low brush.

    opening day bull

Tyvek is a great place to hide when the weather turns nasty. I have used it many times for that. It's also machine washable and it gets more supple and quiet with every wash.

    opening day bull

The wolf kill looked about 2 months old, the antlers were short and still in velvet. The wallow is on the edge of the meadow. I think the large bulls are smart enough to stay away.
  29. H

    opening day bull

The wallow I usually hunt was not active I think because there was a wolf kill right next to it. So I sat the meadow right next to it. Right at last light two bulls came out and I shot the closer one at 45 yards. In the pitch black I could hear the other bull barking at his friend to get up...

    Idaho Antelope Unit 51

LAST EDITED ON Jul-21-16 AT 10:57PM (MST)[p]Congratulations on the tag. My daughter and nephew drew the tag two years ago. Both sides of the road from Howe north for about 25 miles along the foothills will hold antelope. Just glass with 15s from the dirt roads and you will find antelope in...

    67 R Antelope! (Backdoor)

Size is just a bonus, its fun covering country and looking over lots of critters. Good to hear there are some. Anything over 70 might itch my finger if there is some character. My dad is notorious for not shooting because he wants to continue hunting!

    67 R Antelope! (Backdoor)

Me and the old man drew as nonresidents! Only took 16 points. Glad we drew before dad is too old to hunt. Excited to learn new area. This is my only and last go at antelope in Colorado for sure.

    Unit 74 Above Timberline???

Had tag in 2014 as nonres. Scouted for 4 days and shot this opening morning. Biggest one we could find. Lots of deer but older age class was missing. Hiked into basins 2-6 miles from road. Fun awesome country but don't expect a monster! Country was soo steep the velvet got dinged a bit...

    Sons first buck

Drew an awesome tag first time in the pot. Hunted hard for 2 weeks. The clubbed horn was too cool to pass up. 120 yard chest shot on shooting sticks with 243 reduced recoil.

    First bow kill

Thanks hunters, He's 39 wide, he ran 100 yards back to where he came from and died just inside the tree line, he almost fell twice in view. I shot a smaller 6 with my rifle on the late big desert tag in 2003. Your right the size and success isn't the best part, just trying to get close to...
