Otter Creek is producing some nice fish. A couple 7lbs caught lately. It's hit and miss. you can slay them one day, do the same thing a few days later and it's slow. Piute has actually been decent lately. The water is dropping fast though.
My boy lost his. We back tracked and did not find it. Lucky for him he had his shed hunting permit in one of the pockets. It made it easy for the finder to track him down. It was better then Christmas when he answered the door the guy handed him the pack.
Cannonball, You might as well cross Upper Box Creek off your list of fishing holes. Two of the biggest rattlers I have seen were on the south side of the lake. One just as you start up the hill and the other just past the cattle gaurd at the top.
Congrats again to your Dad. That is a bull to be proud of. Wish I could have been there for the for the kill but in a way I am glad I was not. Those moments are better shared with just a father and son. Besides I needed a break from you, those Laker shirts you wore during the off hours were...
$100 Sounds like a deal to me. My dad just paid $200 to have his delivered. I thought he was crazy but after it was all said and done he said it was well worth it.
I guess it all depends on how you look at the odds. I get two chances in the DWR draw. I get 200 chances in the Expo draw.
It took me 20 years to draw a elk tag in the DWR draw. Still no luck in the Expo draw in two years. The verdict is still out on which has better odds.
I hate the 400 mile...
Congrats Rick, It's the journey with family and friends that make the memories. I can't even imagine trying to drag that thing whole. You got a couple tuff boys.
Rick, I beleive your son. Your wife and daughter set the bar high. If you boys don't smoke a toad there will be alot of razzing around the campfire and dinner table from the ladies:-)
Your probably right about the dark spot being an injury. The infamous "Chubby" has a dark gray spot this year...
bowhunt,
I know he put in the time so there was no doubt he would do well. PM me the details!!
Stinky, that would make me sick to see that bull switch units. Things paid off in the end for you though!!
I know of a mid 380's bull that was taken opening weekend. The two other bulls I know of taken the last weekend were in the 330-340 range. The hunters that took these know the mountain as well as anyone but held out to the end. I know one other guy that had a tag there and have not heard how he...
I just got back from an over night trip to Gooseberry with my boys third grade class. Dang it was COLD last night. That ought to kick things up a notch as far as the rut goes.
Ty, your right about the extra eye guards on these southern units. It seems like most are from Boulder?
For those who...
RE: Is this the same bulll?
I'm sure you have more then one ace in the hole. You know the elk habits and that mountain as well as anyone. I can't wait to see what you get. It is a fun time of year!!
LAST EDITED ON Sep-16-09 AT 09:38AM (MST)[p]He is a Utah Bull..The strange thing about it was he had green paint on his side like he had been paint balled???
My boy and I found this bull glassing Thursday. From that point on we watched him from daylight to dark. Opening morning things were not perfect but I had a shot I have made a 100 times, this time I missed. After a long tracking job we found the canyon we figured they were headed. Evening came...
Thanks Rick. I was at Darwins and they were on there way there. I could not hang around to see it. My nephew said it had tree trunks for antlers!!I beleive they said it was a Peterson from Joseph?
