Nikon EDG 1 8x42 has serious flaw with its integrated diopter design. I would pass that opportunity no matter how sweet the deal is. The only company that does this right is Swarovski.

I agreed that Swaro spotter is good candidate. I have been waiting for 65mm ED2 spotter from Zen-Ray for years. When that eventually comes, I will grab it right away

check out their PRIME HD binoculars. It gives edge to edge sharpness which is only available from Swaro SV or Zeiss SF binoculars. Their offering is very similar to Vortex, except the price is about 40% less expensive.

the new Leupold BX4 McKinley is quite amazing. I am surprised it has not been mentioned here yet. Definitely well clearer and brighter than Razor. The optics performance is more like Swarovski level.

Monarch 7 has very good resolution and brightness. The only issue is the chromatic aberration control needs more work. The Vortex Razor and Zen-Ray ED3 are better in that department.

both Swaro and Leica are fine binoculars. I don't think there is much practical difference between them other than price. But you probably will notice how much better they are than the Razor.

I like my Zeiss Victory 10x45 RF binoculars. Yes it is pricey, but it is worthy every penny.

I have been using my angled ZEN ED2 spotter for over a year. I have been debating between angled and straight., But eventually I settled on the angled version. It is just easier for my neck when standing there watching.

Vortex's Razor HD spotter is a very good spotter. But the Viper HD is a big disappointment. The image quality is mediocre at te best. The color fringing at the edge was not controlled very well. Leupold Kenai is a great spotter in this regard for its price.

Zen-Ray PRIME HD 10x42. I got both PRIME HD and Vortex Razor HD to compare and decided to keep the PRIME HD. The edge performance of PRIME is much better.

I had a chance to try out a pair of new Razor HD. It is quite compact and light, comparing to their previous open bridge design. The resolution is fine, similar to Viper HD or ZEN ED2 I have. But I cannot see why this one is selling for $1100. The sweet spot is about the same as Viper or ZEN...

Haven't tried to compare ot Viper. But a friend of mine who is very knowledgeable in optics compare Conquest HD to Razor HD. He is very impressed with Conquest HD and recommends Conquests to all of us looking for a new pair of binos
