Great story, and great to hear your cancer was the low grade. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2014. The scopes are definitely no fun, but far better than the alternative. Good luck to you going forward and may you remain cancer free.

I'd bet it's closer to 1 out of 100 to hit 170. To hit 190 I'd think 1 in several hundred. Just my $.02.

I'd probably be looking into the San Rafael area. The West Desert units hold some good ones too.

Seems to be the same story on all of Wyoming's toughest draw areas, lots of bucks, but not much for quality. Makes me wonder if it'll change anytime soon. I know everyone else is asking the same questions.

I'd bet it's a barrel float issue, I bought the wife a gun and we were having the same kind of problems. Checked the barrel and it was not floated. Went home and cleaned it up and floated the barrel. That sucker is a tack driver now. Good luck.

There are definitely some good bucks up there. We hunted it about 5 years ago and took one that green scored right at 80 and the other was around 78 if I remember right.

I do Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Nevada. Did New Mexico before the dropped non resident quotas. Been thinking about Arizona and Idaho.

I've got my deer and elk refunds, but not my pronghorn. Wonder if the wife got ahold of it and went on a shopping spree.

Are there any units in Colorado that have a good chance at finding a mid to high 70's buck on public? I know Colorado isn't known for it's speed goats just looking for areas to research. I only have 5 points. Any units to look into?

RE: Utah early season wilderness, high country hunts I like the idea. The more options for people the better. Spread out the apps. I think it would be good because it adds some quality opportunities on some of the general units. Like was said though if they keep the tag numbers low for these...

Thanks for all the input. Sounds like a lot of Wyoming is hurting right now. I hope the powers that be can do something to help the situation. That would be great if they reduced tag number to help 102, but if it's anything like Utah once the increase tags, they rarely reduce them.

What are the pros and cons to these 2 units? Which do you think is better? Might have to try for a 101 deer and 58 antelope combo.

Thanks TG, would we be able to have a decent hunt on public and walk in areas in 23 or would we need to find some private? The plan was that the ones who wanted to hunt bucks would apply in the special if necessary. Do they usually have leftover doe tags in any of those units?
