It’s hard to beat the 6.5 PRC as well, good factory ammo, great BCs. Most .270s aren’t twisted right to shoot heavy bullets. Weatherby ammo is ridicoulsy expensive and it really limits your rifle choices.
I drew this tag on accident for the last season and am looking for places to start. I am more than willing to trade Idaho or oregon information. Additionally I have a lot of AK fishing info.
This is a great opportunity, if you need a reference, feel free to reach out to me. I have hunted with Birch Creek multiple times and sent multiple people his way. No complaints
Like the post says, looking for a DIY Oryx tresspass hunt for 2-4 hunters this fall.
Hunted them unsuccessfully this year off range and have the bug bad. (went 1 for 2)
That's how we got to this situation. There are studies that show that having mature bucks doing the breeding at the same time during the first estrus allows for most of the fawns to drop at the same time. As I understand it, the more fawns on the ground at the same time actually leads to better...
Buddy drew a 5b late rifle bull tag, I am going along to help.
I'll take tips, but I have some good starts.
My question is, are there any birds to hunt in there like chukars, quail, etc?
I have a buddy who owns a couple giant ranches. They smash a bunch of cows, but only kill a hand full of bulls a year to keep quality. Its not an E plus UW ranch obliviously.
I think the Eplus is one of the best systems in the nation for providing access that otherwise wouldn't be available.
Yet another reason I don't like BHA..
I bet you've seen yeti, chupacabra, and a nun that says F**K..
I've seen pile of animals hit in that same spot, all DRT.
To clarify, everyone has been shot with a berger, amax, or eldm.
He hit Warners on a down year for antelope growth, that being said my friends who hunted it all killed 78-81" goats.. On a dry year the average would've been around 80..
I've got a couple places to start, but I'm always looking for more.
I'm not interested in going into the wilderness because I plan on taking my daughter with me. Looking for a place where I can kill one within a mile or 2 of the road because I will be packing it myself with my 7 year old...
Most guys can youtube there way through a home project, Most guys can not go to a new unit and kill a 200" mature deer DIY. More so when they don't have all summer to scout and learn the unit.
Try getting a quality Rosie anywhere in the nation or world, rockies are dime a dozen. You can draw rocky tags with 0 point in oregon as well. Powers and the sixes are the 2 best in the state.
Rifle is fun, lots of bulls but the top end quality is lacking. They're easy to pattern until the hordes of spike hunters show. As you know, it's pretty darned steep. I'll be in there again this year, good luck. You should have 50% odds as a resident with 17.
My buddy killed a 320 bull and a 315 bull in it over the last 4 years.
It's a rough hunt and unless you're willing to back pack in a long way and pack in water it will be pretty darned hard.
They kill some studs in the Powers and sixes units. Get a reputable outfitter and you'll do fine. You can kill a rocky almost anywhere, a rosie is pretty limited on where you can hunt them..
