12A/12B is the Kaibab. 13A and 13B are the strip. I applied with a buddy and we averaged 6 points. Tags #53 and #54. 60 tags went to bonus pass this year since there were 300 tags. The Strip takes a lot more points to draw.
Our draw was a disaster this year for sure. Honestly our online application process is one of the worst. I apply in most western states and they’re all easier to use.
Considering using my 5 points for a muzzy deer tag this year. Opportunity to find 160”+ bucks is my goal. Seems like I’m about to be in the spot where I’ve got more points than I need for a the easy tags and not nearly enough for the better tags. I see I’m a couple years away from 76 or 66...
Funny for NOT being what happened Michael Vicente just plead guilty to those charges. Unlawful transport of wildlife and taking wildlife from a motor vehicle. Call me crazy but if I'm not guilty I'll be damned if I'd plead guilty.
27 early archery was 100% draw with 15 points last year for a nonresident. If you put a early rifle tag as first choice you have ZERO chance to draw it. You won't make the bonus pass for early rifle but you will make the bonus pass for the early archery. Never even get a chance at the early...
2? in Williams today and wide spread rain across the region. Kaibab Forest is lifting the fire restrictions this Weds morning at 8 a.m. Had runoff in all the dirt tanks on my way home and several feet of water in my ponds at home.
I've been in the Florida?s a few times over the years and been able to go along on a hunt. Every time I've been there I've seen broken horn billies. Why isn't there a broken horn ibex hunt? Seems like guys with a once in a lifetime or even a muzzy tag are unlikely to want to shoot a billy with...
$300 hit. Sheep tag! Now the long wait for results to see who's tag and what unit. My wife or daughter for desert or myself for rocky. Unlikely it's my rocky since I drew desert 2 years ago.
Posted him in the AZ forum but figured I'd post here also. Can't say enough how fortunate I felt to draw this tag and then take this ram. Being a wilderness area it was a lot of hard miles. Was everything you could hope for. Thanks to Chase for all the great pics.
Thought I'd share a few pics of my sheep hunt. I was fortunate enough to have a couple great friends along to help and provide info from last year. Even more fortunate to shoot a nice ram and get great pics and video of it all. Nothing wrong with going guided but I enjoyed doing it on our own...
Sent you an email with contact info. I live in 7west and I'll gladly help you early next week if you don't have luck this weekend. I'm scouting for my sheep tag this weekend and leaving Weds for my sheep hunt but Monday and Tuesday afternoon I should be available.
After many years of waiting my wife drew for buffalo. One of the 2 any buffalo tags in either late July or early August. Can't wait for results to post. Hard to believe I drew my desert sheep tag this year and we have a buffalo hunt for next year!
I had 15 points. Missed a few years back when money was tight and you couldn't buy a bonus point back then. Great looking dall. This is my first sheep tag. I've hunted aoudad in New Mexico on public land for 10 years but this is going to be completely different!
Got a great surprise this morning. Checked "the card" and after years of waiting there's a charge for sheep! Could be the wife, daughter,or myself but somebody in our house has a desert bighorn tag. Will be a long wait for results to come out and see who drew and which unit. Wife and I both have...
Got hit for a sheep tag this morning. Now the long wait to see if it's the wife, daughter,or myself and which unit. Desert tag for sure but we applied for a few different units based on points and available time.
Looking for info on areas to try crane hunting in southeast New Mexico. We'll be hunting sheep in unit 30 and thought we might come over a few days early and bring our crane decoys. I've seen a lot around Artesia in the past. Any idea how difficult it is getting permission in that area from...
Dustyboots PM sent. Great looking buck. I've been helped by others on here and helped others out. It can be a great place when it works like this.

Thanks for the suggestions. Really appreciate the starting points. Looks like I should be able to plan a trip for next fall. The planning is half the fun for me anyway.
Looking for some suggestions. I'm starting to research where and when to do a DIY hunt for Columbian blacktail. I've been lucky enough to take the rest of the deer slam on DIY hunts and I'd like to try and finish it in the next year or 2. Outfitted/ranch hunts are out due to cost (5 kids and a...
Human caused often has nothing to do with campers or hunters. How many of our fires in southern AZ have been started by illegal aliens? People working around their own property? Closing the forests to hunters wouldn't have stopped a single one of those. I'm all for common sense being applied but...
For anyone that was forced to camp less than 30' from the road last year this is great news. Camping that close to a main dirt road is dangerous when you have small kids. Glad to see common sense prevail for once.
RE: JUNE ANTLER GROWTH
Saw a couple bulls at work the last few days. Just north of unit 1 in some dry juniper country. Looked pretty good on their fronts. Got some decent rain in some areas today and a chance for more tomorrow so maybe we'll get some grass to help finish those tops off.
With 5 points already I'd want the late December hunt not the late November early Dec. hunt. Tag numbers alone make it a better tag in my opinion. You can get the late Nov hunt as a leftover in some units.
It doesn't get any easier to send letters to your representatives about keeping your gun rights than this. Took me 3 minutes to fill in my info and it emailed the letter for me. Almost a million people have done it already.
