I may be looking at the incorrect drawing odds that are posted on the IDFG web site. In the far right column of their spread sheet is that where the NR tags that were drawn is located ?

I was checking out the drawing odd for NR in Idaho. Idaho has the "UP TO 10%" of tags can go to Non Residents. With the massive in flux of people moving to Idaho and applying for Controlled hunt tags as residents, The odds of drawing a NR tag are becoming non existent. Check out the last couple...

Find a good high point lookout where you can glass a lot of area. Be there before sun up and the last light of day. Look for the white rump patch and if you see other hunters out walking, look ahead of them as they might spook something.

Spent 2 days scouting prior to 10/5. Lots of Does, Fawns and 2 points. Opening day observed a 4x2 and a 3x3 + Does, Fawns and 2 points. Gudari your correct about the activity, mining exploration everywhere. Only had 1 1/2 days to hunt but will be back for the last 10 days of the season. (Work)...

Called the F&G for some info on unit 41. Seems the Bio for that area has never been in unit 41. Hello, hard to manage a herd when you know nothing about the area or don't do any population study's. "We just manage the area like we always have" ??????

AKhunter, I spent some time near the Idaho border a couple years ago. Never did venture to close to Duck Valley. I also thought it was worth a closer look but have never made it back. Check it out. To me the fun of hunting is checking out new areas. Good luck, Willy

Looks like a good way to travel. I would make sure that the area that I traveled in did not have a population of Wild Sheep. I've read that not only domestic Sheep but also domestic Goats carry the Lung disease that can wipe out a herd of wild Sheep real Quick Something to think about. Willybbig

Buckmaster, 40,41&42 get hit hard during the "Two Point Only" season. There are some good bucks out there but not as many as you might think for a controlled "Rut" hunt.. Just my 2 cents....... Willy

Unit 40 in my book is not worth spending much time in. Most of the bucks get killed during the 2 point hunt and few survive to old age. 44 and 45 produce some good bucks every year. Start knocking on doors and see if you can aquire some private land acess.
