40-9 vs 38-9 wy elk

Looking for insight on the two units, looking mainly at type 9 tags as I prefer to bow hunt and rather have sept to hunt.

How different are the units as far as terrain ( other than what I can see on ge) more camping
/hiking biking pressure in one over the other? Any other info that would change ones mind on what one to try to get a tag?

I should get one scouting trip in aug .

Will be hunting solo as of now and camping .

Leaning towards unit forty

LAST EDITED ON Jan-27-19 AT 05:37PM (MST)[p]IMHO 38 will get a lot more human activity from non hunters during the archery season in September, especially on the weekends, compared to 40. Therefore, I would also favor 40 for that hunt even though 38 is a great unit.

Thank you, I was hoping that was the case. Guess 40 it will be if point creep doesn't jump so much this year.
