Byron York asked Rush about the effect the Democrats' plot has had on Rush's business:

"The latest numbers I have are for January, well before this kerfuffle began, and they are through the roof -- six shares in NY, for example. There are daily ratings taken now in about the top 15 markets but I have not seen them yet. All I can tell you is that as of January, we booked 80 percent of all our 2008 revenue and we'll be over 2008 by the end of this month."

According to Talkers Magazine, since the Democrats' conspiracy was put in motion, Rush's audience has grown from 14 million to 25 million.

Liberals are such idiots. Lets look at this situation shall we?

Suppose their master plan to demonize Rush was sucessful in their minds. What do they gain? They already control congress and the only Republicans they try to defeat would be in very red areas where following Rush would be a bonus, not a detriment. Furthermore, they play right into Rush's hands because he gets the ratings boost AND he gets the RINOs to have to pick sides. Now what side do you think they are going to choose? Embrace the socialist big ears or Rush?

Furthermore, it plays into Rush in that shaky conservative Democrats risk alienatation from their districts.

Finally, this whole thing leaves independents and moderates wondering, with the DOW crashing, unemployment at historic levels, Iran building nukes, North Korea developing long range missiles and Russia gearing up for a new cold war, and RUSH LIMBAUGH is the most important thing on Democrats minds?

It does seem dumb, last week the MSN web site had something everyday about Rush, on the other hand it could be devisive for Republicans, it could really hurt the moderate elements in the party, time will tell, Limbaugh is not really very sharp and if by gaining popularity he is percieved to be the face of the party, it could be very damaging for a long time

What the dems hope to gain by making Rush the head of the RNC is to get people to listen to him, the more you listen the more you back away. even hard core conservatives are split on tubby, swing voters will run away like their hair is on fire if they think Rush speaks for the party .

Rush is profiting from all this attention, at first it ticked me off, but now I see the strategy of putting an unlikable idiot at the top of your competitions A list. Rush will keep his ditto heads but he's not going to attract any new listeners with an IQ over 50 and the dems know it, and Steele knows it, but the party is too weak for a cival war right now..

Watching the two parties try to screw each other over and the tricks they pull is better than reality tv any day.

Numbers go fron 14-30 million reached a week, Rush says 20 now, who knows. it only stands to reason with the attention and the fact people who love to hate Obama need someone to agree with that his numbers would go up. lets say he does have 25 million, anyone who can choke down his show is a die hard right wing voter who's not ever going to vote for the left anyway, so what. swing voters determine every election and Rush is a made to order vote repellent to the republicans. enjoy his stardom the libs are.

Rush had a huge audience before Obama. He does say he avgs 20 million listeners. No one else even comes close. You don't have to be a right winger to enjoy his show. Conservative talk shows are huge! Why the Libs are trying to get them shut down via fairness Doctrine. Dah what happen to Free Speech? Hannity, Ingrahm, Beck, Lavine, all hugely popular. Nice to see a conservative side of things on media for a change. Just because you like the truth and see another side of things, sure doesn't mean your a right winger. Only 26% of Americans have a favorable veiw of the republican party right now, maybe you should fire tubby and FAUX and let Steele try to do his job without the dog and pony show.
