Antelope horn question

What does a taxidermist use to blacken the horns if they are faded? I have tried shoe polish but it stinks. Any ideas?

Never thought of that. Good ol' Krylon. Think I'll try a semi-gloss or satin.

I like to use boiled linseed oil. It will darken the horns back up, but leave them looking a lot more natural than painting them. But it's all a matter of preference.
