If we were allowed to apply for points for all species in the same year, would our odds drastically decrease, even lower than they are now? Am I looking at this the wrong way?
I believe that the current point system is broke- at the current rate, people with 0-1 point may never draw. (certain animals) So how will allowing more people into the system help? Sure the division gets a lot more money but whats the point of gloging it up more? Do they actually care if I get to hunt the animals I apply for? Or do they just want my revenue from the thought of me hunting the animal?
How is it that we can hunt a deer every year (almost) and still obtain deer points? Or go hunt elk every year and still obtain an elk point? To me we have our cake and can eat it too, but that cake is now rock hard and is going to hurt like hell when it passes!
If one should choose to hunt an animal in a year, he/she should forfit the ability to gain a point for that animal. This IMO will do a few things-
1- relieve some pressure in the points pool, allowing better odds.
2- Also take some pressure off the general season hunts, fewer hunters? Maybe a few more larger bucks in the general season units?
What do you think, am I looking at this wrong? I would not be in favor of being able to apply for all species. Utah does not issue enough tags to go around.
