"Hello all, I purchased an elk tag but don't know what to do with it, can somebody please give me a location to fill my tag"???
This seems to be the norm now a days due to the deer tags selling out so quick, seems like more an more people are taking whatever tag they can get and doing the "lazy boy" method to get the job done.
Whatever happened to good old scouting and topo maps?? Have we become that lazy that we cannot put forth any effort at all in the sport we love?
I remember quite well when my dad and I decided our usual elk hunting spot was getting too crowded. We packed up for a week the following fall and went looking for a new hunting spot. We found one and have killed 7 out of the eight years because we put the time and effort into finding an area and got to know the habits of the elk before and during the hunt. I have kept a hunting journal of all events that contributed to the success of the hunt so that I can be better prepared the following year.
I just do not understand the mentality of some people and why they resort to the "free handout" method. Especially when there is still alot of time to go out and scout before the general season opens????
Thoughts?
