Nice ram. Barbary sheep can be frustrating. Everytime I hear someone say they saw 40 or 50 in one day I want to gouge their eyes out with a spoon.

When we hunt sheep, we see sheep once every 3 days hunting.

well paul grab that spoon and come on down to artesia. year b4 last cookie and myself both saw a herd of over 30 sheep and I've seen numerous herds well over 15. heck year b4 last in the rim we killed several rams outa one herd n left 2 more good rams and about 10 to 15 nannies.

can u bring an anestesiologist with u? that spooon gouging sounds awfully painful. rofl

If they are in the same herd it doesn't count. It is the guys that are seeing groups through out the day that add up to 40-60 that blows my mind. I must be hunting in the wrong places. Even with our tags filled we did some scouting for next year in some new spots and cannot find no new honey holes.

As far as eye gouging, for you stinky there will be no anesthesiologist, in fact I will be using a dirty spoon. Maybe after I eat a bowl of menudo or ice cream. Or a plastic spoon, your choice.

Gouge away, Paul.

The day before yesterday I took a couple of rookies into my usual area and saw about 50+. Don't know for sure just how many because I'm sure we were seeing some of the same ones multiple times. I've gotta believe there are similar places in unit 30, I just haven't located that area yet.

However, you can lead rookies to water but you can't make them drink (or in this case make the shot). Makes me wonder how NM could waste that tag on rookies when I could have put it to much better use... ;-)

But a least one of the rookies redeemed himself yesterday: shot the first barbary we saw. I still don't know how the other rookie did yet, as he took off to hunt some more while I was helping the first rookie cut his up. I wasn't able to wait around to see whether the other rookie made it back to vehicles okay last night. Hope to hear soon, don't have time this week to be going on a search party.

Mozey, my to do list this year is to find some more sheep spots. We have been doing a little scouting. They are hard to find.

I have yet to find any place even remotely as good as the areas you have found. Thats where the eye gouging comes in. Just jealousy.

thanks mozey.going back to unit 29 saturday give it one more try.don't know the unit.been hunting unit 32 for 12 years.got some nice 28's & 27's out of there but the draw took care of that.
