Beaver Archery Deer

Heading out to the Beaver unit on the last year of my dedicated hunter tag, will be out for the opener. Any advice from anyone? Anyone else going to give this unit a try this year?

Well, two years of hunting the unit should have given you some pretty good info.
Only recommendation I can give is to keep your shots under 120 yards however arrows are easier to find standing strait up from long shots.

I've hunted this unit for about 8 years and the last 3-5 years have been ROUGH. I'm sure you know too...the deer numbers just aren't there and there's a lot of predators and with the drout this year it's gonna be worse I think. Just try covering country and don't shoot the little ones ? let them grow!

You can read several Beaver posts that have been on this site over the past 3 years. The main theme is Beaver has gone downhill in a major way. Still plenty of elk, but the deer numbers are way down. I have great memories hunting Beaver with bow and muzzy, but I'm not going back for several more seasons. I used to see 5-10 bucks per day with some decent hiking effort, but the last season I hunted it two years ago, I had a hard time finding 1 buck hiking the same areas. I hope it rebounds someday.
