the story behind the deer is I was extremely lucky to draw with 4 points. We scouted a couple of times during the month prior to the season seen several nice bucks. I was looking for a deer that was unique and was willing to sacrafice a little size if i saw a deer i liked. A friend that was along for the trip found this buck opening morning and pointed us in the direction of him. My other buddy and i went to the canyon he said he saw him bed down in and we found him at around 745 pm bedded with 6 other bucks. He was in a position to where I was able to walk right to him because there was a group of scrub oak between the deer and I. The herd of bucks fed out and started to feed away from me and he offered me a 55 yard shot. My shot was a little back but demolished the liver and the opposite side lung due to him quartering away. After the shot he ran 300 yards as fast as a deer could run and rolled down the hill. I also have to say that my grim reaper broadhead performed excellent. One last thing thanks to Rex for giving up opening weeking week to go with me and also to Brian and Glenda for showing me a few new places in the Book Cliffs hope we get to do it again soon.
