I got to thinking the other day when I was going through the latest Huntin Fool...What, and Where, do these guys keep all their trophies? They get 4-7 trophy animals a piece per year. Surely by now rooms have got to be filling up. I bet they have quite the impressive collection.

Anyone else wonder this?

Gave them a few dollars over the years, but no more!! You can find the same info online or by talking to hardcore hunters??

I'm with ya. They keep sending me their renewal form, it just goes in the trash. I'm tired of "celebrity" hunters, and the glory they try to obtain.

Wow guys! You are right about info, but celebrities? I think the idea is to prove what they preach? I certainly don't hear anyone from HF bragging or berating other guys. To the contrary they welcome pictures and stories from everyone.

The people at HF have treated me right and provided the services I have paid for.

Huntin Fool is a great service as far as I'm concerned. They give alot for just a little.

+1 KTC and Flyingbrass,

One of my good friends works for HF. They all love hunting and are great people! They give alot of great info. They shoot some great animals in some of the best areas and they shoot great animals in some of the worst areas! Most of there success comes from hunting very hard. I went on a mule deer hunt in colorado with one of them last year. it is not a great unit, we hunted hard all week and he took a great buck over 200 on the second to last day, and i shot my biggest typical.

I have never seen there trophy room just heard about it. and im sure they dont have enough room too put all of them on the wall.

I was in no way meaning anything bad about the Carter's - I love the magazine and the service they provide. I was just saying - they take monsters every year and I was wondering where they display all of them. They are both great guys, and everyone else I've talked with at HF are top notch.

Evedently they are good enough at their jobs to hunt for a living and with that said they better be good at their job if they want to keep it, Hunting is becomming a competetive sport that I think is totally missing the true meaning of hunting, I like to look and listen and read about all the professional hunters with their trophy animals but its a real pleasure when a Kyle Lopez comes along and shows the big dogs that it can still be done by smoking the first 300" mule deer in 30+ years its storys like his that keeps me going to the woods every fall, just hoping and praying that one day it could be my day and if that day never comes its no big deal I hunt for the experience and if I harvest an animal its just iceing on the cake.
All the big magizines and TV shows provide a service that is irreplaceable but if it wasnt for the millions of average Joe hunters watching and subscribing then they would all be outa the job.

Every time I drive through Cedar City, I wonder where they find room to put all those troply animals. I read a lot of posts on here that amount to pure jealousy when it comes to the Huntin' Fool. I have to admit that I am a jealous too, but I have to give them credit for making a living doing what they love. If they hadn't invented the Huntin' Fool business plan, someone else would have. So as long as they are providing me a quality service for my buck, I will be a subscriber.

Of course, you can get all the same info fron each states wildlife division, but it is much cheaper for me to pay $100 a year for someone to complie this stuff for me. And no, I am not lazy. I used to do it myself before HF. I like to think I made a great cost/benefit analysis. I prefer to spend this time with my family instead of doing hours upon hours of research and crunching the numbers. There are no secret units anymore. The draw odds don't lie. $100 is a small price to pay to have this time back in my life. I think most people have a problem with HF because they put everyone than can afford to expend $100 on an even playing field. It is a service, like any other. Also, I don't take everything HF says as gospel, but it is a good starting point to figure out where I want to be next fall. So, if you hate it that they make big bucks hunting for a living, think up a better business plan and put them out of business. It is America afterall.

+1 to james_wvu!

Although I have only been a HF suscriber for a few years I agree it is a good place to start for $100. I also found out how valuable they can be as I drew a LE Utah Archery Elk tag in '08. I used an outfitter they recommended and they were spot on about who I hired. Please don't bash me for not doing my own scouting as I live nearly a 1000 miles from the unit I hunted and $4 gas wouldn't have got me out of my home state!

I also took the time to stop by HF office about a week into my hunt, I was amazed the people that work there were as pleasant and helpful in person than on the phone!

"I don't take everything HF says as gospel" is also a fair statement as they represent a lot of information and not all is going to be 100%, things change.

I would also agree that I am envious, maybe not jealous that they have been so successful at what they do! Their concept has probably ended them up in the right place at the right time. Isn't that what all of us are trying to do in our own lives at least once in a while?

All I know I was very impressed this past year with HF and the time they spent with me on the phone to help turn my once in a lifetime hunt into a dream come true from so far away.

Continued success to the Huntin' Fool!

I never once mentioned there service was not worthy. I did enjoy there magazine, stories, and info they provided. What Im saying is every year there hiring more and more help. There a reason why they have that many trophies on the wall!! It comes from you and I. Yes, they were some what successful befor HF, but nowhere close to where they are now. Im sure they are hardcore hunters, but it says something about having alot of money in your pocket!!

I don't plan on getting in an arguing match here, but not all hunts are bought hunts with these guys. They are drawing tags too. Those that say we bought them all these hunts are jealous and haven't thought about it too much.

For the jealous hunters out there - explain to me how "money" killed Jason's NM elk last year in NM unit 38? He drew that tag as his 3rd choice, went down there and scouted with trail cams, and took it. Also, explain to me how money helped him take his desert ram in UT that he drew the tag for?

Like i said, didn't say they werent hardcore hunters. What im saying is does the average guy with average income get to hunt like they do every year?? Or the above average guy? You mean to tell me that the average guy can go on 5-8 hunts every fall out of state?? The money is coming from us!! It hard pressed to get that much time off?? Glad to see their business to be a successful one. Im not jealous by any means. I feel lucky to get to go as much as i do, but I will not give my $100.00 to them anymore. As stated earlier, i can get the same info online or talking to the average hardcore hunter!! I know that they will continue to build a successful business. I know what kinda magazine they put out, I've been in it!!

they are no different than Eastmans, Best of the west, Christensen outdoors, Druby outdoors. and all those other "pros." they get paid to do what they love. they just share more info and offer more services. I really dont care if im supporting there hunts. someone is supporting each and every hunt i go on! without the people that pay me for my services i wouldnt do any hunts. for a 100 dollars i get more than my moneys worth. and i have alot more opportunity!

If i looked up everything on my own, the time I spent doing it would cost alot more! so in a way they are putting money in my pocket because i can use the extra time I saved and i can work.

I'm in agreement. I'm a cpa - would you guys pay me to do your taxes if you knew I used that money to take me on hunts every year?

The $100 fee is just a source for income for them and time saver for me and the rest of us that subscribe.

I wonder if Jason and Garth Carter do their own income taxes? They could...just read up on the IRS regulations and stay on top of all the new changes. Hell no they don't, - it makes more sense for them to pay money and get it done just as I give them the $100 to find out about all the new changes, etc. And, when they go on these hunts, that's writeoff for them. AND, they practice what they preach.

Perfectly put muley. I'm a dentist and guess what I make decent money drilling teeth and I use a lot of it to do what I love and what you all love to do. The money I make from my expertise is used for hunting just like their money is. No different.

As for celebrity hunters I don't see it. They very rarely included any of their hunting stories in their magazines until recently when many members were calling in and requesting stories of their hunts. In my opinion they have kept their own hunts very low key. They draw many of their tags the same way we all do, luck of the draw.

I'm just wondering where you guys think I should get my money to hunt with so I don't use my "patient's money" or your "insurance company's money."

OK, we all get it, the only difference is much of the product they promote and sell is a publicly owned finite resource and the government agencys overseeing that resource try to make sure that all citizens have a chance to enjoy that resource, there is a virtually unlimited amount of privately owned teeth out there for you to exploit, but only a limited amount of publicly owned wildlife out there, so thats where your anologys get a little confused. There is and have been many ultra rich big game hunters that have far larger more awesome trophy rooms that the hunting fools, and many of the trophys taken by those guys have quite the storys behind them, wild country and tough expeditions,so if you want to enjoy someone elses hunting stories get a good book, but if you want to enjoy trophy hunting yourself be vigilant, because some of our western wildlife is getting exploited pretty heavily

I give Garth credit, he is doing what most people on this site only dream of being able to do, making a living by hunting, writing about and talking about hunting, he not only makes a living but a good living is able to take care and include his family as well. When he started 10+ years ago I bet he had no idea how big a success Huntin Fool would be, Kudos to him!

Ok lets look at this one.

Hunting Fool Vs. Monster Muleys.

Both have about the same amount of members! Both give draw odds! Both sell Big Game guided and non guided and land owner vouchers! Both of them will tell you what units are the best and where to put in for! Both of them make money and use it to promote there business! Both of them have sponsers to help pay costs! Both of them love to hunt and are willing to share it! and so on and so on!

Nobody gives a rip if you make good money (but not too much), as long as it's not in the hunting business.

Good for Carters. I hope they make a million dollars.

Geeez Piper, is there anybody, anything or any place, that you approove of?

Tell us who, what and where, you think are OK with you.

And what is your self rightous method of earning a living?

Im a brick, block and rock layer, hard work, but it keeps the body hard also, Im one of those people that learned about hunting areas the hard way, by exploring and scouting and hunting over time, so Im in the group that the hunting information business has put a hurt on, maybe you can realize why I get less excited about these guys than some, nothing I can do about it , but you have to understand that there are losers and winners in this.

Enough about the pros and cons, I want to know or see some pics of the trophy room!!!! There is no one on here that can say if they had the opportunity to have a bussiness like they do that they would have turned it away? Give me a break. I imagine that alot of their clients have given more money to the Dept. of wildlife in states than alot of other people. Yes it takes money to hunt and yes there is alot more access to info, but it boils down to how you use your tag when you get it. I am a member of HF, I do not use their tag service but I sure do like their magazine each month. HORN PORN is GOOD!!

"They get 4-7 trophy animals a piece per year. Surely by now rooms have got to be filling up."

A better question would be "Where is all the meat going"??? A cow elk can last me over a year, these guys could care less about the meat. No way in hell do these guys keep all the meat from thier "Trophies". All they are hunting for are the antlers.
I can't imagine that they each have six freezers in the basement for all the meat. This trophy hunting thing has really gone down hill.

well its obvious they are horn hunters! They dont showcase the Backstraps and hams when they shoot an animal! and they donate the meat to those that need it!

HJB, really? how many people have asked you for elk meat? it isnt hard to get rid of if you have a few friends. but i'm sure they are evil people and just throw it in the dump, good lord.

I normally stay out of these petty type conversations, but I really can't stand it when a bunch of jealous types start whining and crying about those that rise above their level of success. I personally know Garth and have known him for a long time, as in waaaaaaaay before he started the Hunting Fool business. He has been a hard core hunter from day one and he had a very impressive trophy collection long before the whole Hunting Fool thing started. Not only that he did it on working man wages. He was a fish and game officer for the state of Utah and folks that is not a job to get rich off of. Garth has come from humble means and has created a very good life for himself and his family. He deserves any and all success that befalls him. He started a business anyone could have started and provides information that anyone can obtain if they want it bad enough. The difference is he did it, and he works hard to keep it going. You can fault him all you want, but you can't fault his personal drive to succeed. He may be a lot of things, but lazy isn't one of them. He is highly self motivated and I suspect that he would be successful regardless of what passions held his interest. It just happens that hunting was the passion he was able to convert into a successful business. Truth be told, just about any avid hunter worth his salt would love to be able to make a good income from something they love to do, like hunting. So rather than find fault with his success, many of you would be better off to look at your own life and figure out what you can do to make a living doing what you love. Oh and by the way, he has a seperate building from his house for their trophies and it is exceptionally impressive.

Piper you complain alot. There are millions and millions and millions of acres of public land that you can hunt. Have at it, I highly doubt HF ruined every acre of public land out there. I wish I had thought of it thats for sure. I am sure you do to. :)

"HJB, really? how many people have asked you for elk meat? it isnt hard to get rid of if you have a few friends."

That's my point exactly! You could care less about the meat, all you want is some bone. To each thier own, but I think it's ridiculous when people take such a majestic animal just to turn around and give it all away. Honestly! 8 animals a year is more of a killing spree than "Hunting".

coyote chaser- I don't think they really ruined any public land, I just know Its awfully hard to draw good tags these days, at least for me,but you never know, maybe this is my year, anyway there is always fishing and climbing peaks and camping, and the increased interest in big game hunting is good in some ways.

The thing I cant understand is why would Piper and H DUDE frequent this website? Are they trolls? No. They are liberals who think that they are always right and just love to hear themselves think, type and talk. They are so enlightened and always have to have the last word. Ever notice when people disagree with them they always PUT it back on them.
Back to the thread.
This is the good ole USA and congrats to the Carters for proveing that capitalism is working very well.

Forget it being the good ol usa, you cannot even speak your mind on here or they remove your posts, just because they the moderators are in bed with the carters, and you are not. What a joke of web site. commie bastards
