Coues unit 33

I know I'm probably unlikely to get any secret honey holes or special free advice, but thats not really what I'm looking for. Just somewhere to start, I'm not afraid of putting my time in to get to know an area, do lots of hiking, actually I prefer it that way, farther away from other hunters. I've just never hunted this area, have hunted the desert units north for muleys many times, but never coues in 33. I got the late nov/early dec tag, nothing special but was wonering if anyone familiar with the area would be willing to share some knowledge, either general or specific for this hunt. Worth a try.

Take the Oracle Rd south towards the mountains and pick any canyon before, or after Peppersauce campground. Glass and you will find bucks.

Thank you ed for the starting point, I will start looking there.

Anyone has opinions on other areas, or whether to look at tops of mountains, bottoms of canyons, is there any rut activity this type of year (end of nov/early dec)? Anything helps.

Went with my dad last year. Had some chances to shoot but buck fever set in. First road to the right after peppersauce campground by the dryed up water hole.Stop at the old fenced water tank, walk to the top of hill to the south (20yards)glass the steep hill to the south. We seen some nice deer the day before opening the next day we couldn't find them. Then get back on oracle control road and check the ocatillo cactus hills on the north side of the road near jaunito well and doctor sping. They love the cactus. That where I missed a nice 4 point that my dad called buck fever.Alot of javalina in the same area.

Thank you Badknees, I will definaltely check out this area. I hope to go and scout during the archery season, to get familiar with area, have a chance at flinging an arrow at one, and find out how many people will be in one area vs another. Will the deer here be in the same general areas from september archery to early december, or will scouting in Aug-sept be pointless?

Last year was our first time in mid november and in 33. That is their habitat year round. I have a junior 36a rifle tag for nov 23 and the coues are also in the same areas they don't go to far from their area.
