cougars on private land

I've got a brother that has a cougar tag for utah and we're going to be using dogs to chase cougars near private lands. What happens if our dogs go onto or follow cougar tracks onto private lands that are properly posted? Do we just have to wait for the dogs to come back to us or do we go get them?

That's what I thought...and hope the dogs don't get shot by a landowner before they make their way back.

I'd talk to the land owners before hand and ask permission if the dogs chase a cat onto their land.
