Cow elk help for 2 youths.

Im looking to take two youth on their first cow elk hunt, We are non residents and I was thinking unit 201 or 2. They both have a couple points. I have hunted unit 10 in the past and was looking for any advice on which unit to go to? Thanks for any help.

Couldn’t go wrong with any of them honestly. I would probably do unit 201 over 2 as far as cows go.

You might think about any of the late season cow hunts during the month of December. Big herds if you can be flexible during the month when they start migrating around the NW area.

Remember that youth can continue to hunt if the unit that their tag is for has a later season and they have a unfilled tag. That might have some weight on which unit to hunt.
Also there are a few landowners in unit 3/301/4 who cater to youth for cow hunts on their property.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those units but don't forget about 61. It's a great unit for cows. Hunted it several times with youth hunters and never failed to fill a cow tag.

For anyone considering this option in these units or others, remember there are some caveats. There has to be a late season open, you are restricted to the type of hunt open (public or private only), and you have to get an either sex converted to a cow license.
