Elevation for sheds

What elevation do you guys find most of your elk sheds at here in Idaho?
Never found to many elk horns where I go shed hunting.

Every area can be a bit different. A lot depends on the snow melt. From what 30 years out looking for them has taught me is follow the snow and they are right on the South ridges at snow line when they drop. But if I was to pick a number it would be 4500-5000 feet. That would be with the tops ranging from 8-10k. I have had great 20 shed days that were sage flats, and then find a bunch on a high ridge. One thing is for sure you will get some exercising out there looking. Try to find some packing in the next month and keep an eye on them.

Good luck DZ
