Thanks Andy.
I hate long stories so I'll keep it short. We went out hiked our ashes off saw some really big deer. I missed a 27" 4 pt that i had watched for a couple of days. It was a good buck but I just couldn't connect with him. I watched this deer for quite some time. A guy in our group had never shot, seen shot, or ever been with someone who shot a deer. I watched this buck for a while and then found the guy and we went after him. After two missed shots the deer went up the mtn. and we followed suit only on the other side. The deer was way out there, 280 plus yards. I aimed at his shoulder blades and squoze one off. Thump down he went. Dropped him like a box of rocks. The buck isn't impresive but the shot was. Around 282 yds with a muzzleloader. Before any of you give me slack for such a long shot with the smoke pole just keep it to yourself. I shoot my gun a lot and know my limits. I have shot several deer and elk while muzzleloading and they are all within 100 yds.
While I was up there I ran into Nvrenuf. Way cool guy and good luck to him. I showed him where the big bucks are (ha ha)
I shoot a T/C .50 100 grains of 777 and 250 grain Hornady SST. I swear by that bullet.
The buck is goofy being a deer that hung out in the rocks. Broken off on the left side with a weird fork and double brow tines on the back. I think he must have fallen on his left side.
