Jerry,
How do you know how easy this buck was to get? You talk like it was quite easy to just pull up and shoot the deer in someones front yard. I guess my complaint is, I don't think you do know.
DO YOU KNOW?
Just because a deer was seen in/near a town, doesn't mean it comes running when you shake a can of peanuts. It also doesn't mean it's any easier to kill than the deer killed on October or November hunts.
I don't know anything about this hunt, maybe this deer was a town pet and did come running to a can of peanuts. BUT, because I don't know, I'm not going to trash the guy. Lots of deer are killed near towns all across the West. Many of them have ventured into town to feed, that doesn't make them pet deer.
You might think you are a superior hunter compared to many of us who would have shot that deer if it showed itself on some public, legal hunting area, but I'd be willing to bet that if I took you on some of my outings, you wouldn't be sitting on your high horse too long.
I just don't think you have the right to judge other hunters because they might choose to shoot a deer that lives close to a town.
Next time you touch off that trigger, I hope you're sure that buck or bull hasn't ever been near homes in the winter, otherwise you're guilty of the same thing you are ripping this guy for.
Also, if he offers a shot that is "like shooting a buck target posted down range", I sure hope you pass on him.
And, if "a friend spotted him and called me" you better pass on that too.
No hard feelings I hope Jerry. Fun debate.
