Well 270 I have lived & hunted Idaho all my life. ( I'm 37) so giving you a general area is not hard.I grew up hunting the Clearwater region & its a great area to hunt elk. I've been hunting the Panhandle region the last 5 years & have batted 100% in this area as far as killing bull elk.5 bulls in 5years & thats bow muzzleloader & a 348 B&C w/my rifle too. So I consider the panhandle a very good area. Idaho is broken down into 27 management areas for elk. Some are permit only. Some have a limited # of B tags (rifle). Most are A tag & B tags. Now not all the areas break down the same for dates & what-not but basically, A tags are heavy archery & blackpowder w/very short or no rifle hunting... & B tags are rifle tags w/usually the 1st 2 weeks of archery & a spike only or no blackpowder hunt. It sounds complicated but basically u pick your region 1st then u decide a tag or b tag. Now this is probably to much info & yet still not enough. LOL If you would like more specific info feel free to contact me as I'd rather not spit out the exact river drainage side hill etc. that I do my hunting on for the whole WEB to view!
