Greetings to all - The early rifle hunt was a great success for the two hunters I was with (see photos). First buck was taken opening morn in the burn; I'd seen this buck several times during the bowhunt & we scouted him the day before rifle opening day. Congrats to tph247 for a great buck! Mass, super fronts & deep forks w/double brow tine on right side.
2nd buck was taken on day 7 in the rain on the plateau in a very special place that has produced some whoppers in the past. Alek's patience & persistence paid of with this big buck.
I'll let y'all guess spread/scores, etc. - to me these are two classic Kaibab "grey ghosts" that are trophies in anybody's book with some wonderful memories. To those who believe the Kaibab early rifle hunt is strictly a "meat hunt" w/little chance for a big buck, I actually favor the early hunt for a chance at a big one. Thanks to tph247 & Alek for letting me spend this hunt with them & showing them some of the best muley hunting in the West. I plan to be back on the plateau during the late hunt helping another hunter. Good luck to all!
